  3. Welcome.  Thank you for buying the National Museum of American Art CD-ROM. 
  4. For optimal performance, please read the following information before launching your program.

  6. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  7.  
  8. Macintosh(TM) CD-ROM Requirements
  9.  
  10.     *    Performa or better / 33 Mhz
  11.     *    8 MB of RAM
  12.     *    Color monitor with 256 colors (24 bit recommended)
  13.     *    Double-speed CD-ROM drive
  14.     *    System 7.0.1 or higher

  17. INSTALLATION

  19. Insert the CD-ROM into your drive. When the NMAA window opens, double-click on the icon for the Installer and follow the onscreen instructions.

If your NMAA program fails to launch - The NMAA program requires 8 megabytes of available RAM to execute.  Turn ON your virtual memory in the Virtual Memory Control Panel and set the virtual memory size to 8 megabytes in addition to your physical memory. If NMAA still will not launch, increase the virtual memory size.  If, after NMAA launches, the videos do not play smoothly, increase the virtual memory size again.

  23. NOTE: Users with 8 megabytes of physical RAM MUST use virtual memory.

  25. If you have problems with your printer output - Select the Files option in the Output function on the Portfolio screen.  This option will send your images to the OUTPUT folder under the NMAA folder.  Print these image files using SimpleText or other utility.

  30. The National Museum of American Art CD-ROM includes "context sensitive" 
  31. help for every screen. When using the program, just click the "?" button and help balloons will appear.

  33. The CD-ROM also includes detailed instructions on how to use the program in the OVERVIEW section available from the Main Screen.

  51. PLAYBACK TIPS:

  53. The National Museum of American Art CD-ROM is designed for optimal viewing at true color setting or at millions of colors and with 4x or faster CD-ROMs.

  55. The National Museum of American Art CD-ROM is designed for optimal viewing at 640 x 480.

  58. FOR BEST PERFORMANCE:
  59.  
  60. The NMAA CD-ROM has been designed to allow it to execute entirely from a hard disk.  This option requires at least 650 MBytes of free space on the target hard drive.
  61. When installing the National Museum of American Art CD-ROM, select Custom installation. Then select the Basic option and complete the installation process. 
  62. Then, copy ALL of the contents of the NMAA/Data folder on the CD-ROM to the Data folder created on your hard disk during the installation process.  Start NMAA normally by double-clicking on the NMAA.EXE icon on your hard disk in the folder created 
  63. during installation.  NOTE: You must still have the NMAA CD-ROM in your CD-ROM player to use the product with this option.
